What if we told you there’s more than one way to make trail mix? 🌟 Here’s our Roasted Chickpea Trail Mix, a crunchy, savory, and slightly spicy mix that’ll redefine the way you snack 🫙. It’s the perfect companion for your next adventure or a movie night in. Grab a handful, and let the snacking begin!
IngredientsServings: 4
- 1 cup canned chickpeas rinsed, drained and pat dry
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ cup almonds
- ½ cup cashews
- ¼ cup sunflower seeds
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- Pinch of salt
- Optional: ½ cup dark chocolate
Directions:

1
Preheat your oven to 400°F (175°C). On a baking tray or cast iron pan, toss the chickpeas with olive oil, sea salt, smoked paprika, and garlic powder until evenly coated. Spread the chickpeas in a single layer and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until crispy. Remove from the oven and allow the chickpeas and nuts to cool completely.

2
In a large bowl, add the roasted almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, and dark chocolate.

3
Add the roasted chickpeas and mix well. Serve and enjoy.
Notes:
- You can use dark chocolate chips or give your favourite dark chocolate bar a rough chop for chunkier pieces of chocolate.
- Pick a dark chocolate that contains at least 70% cacao, because the cocoa powder contains all the benefits of chocolate.
- Store the trail mix in an airtight container at room temperature.
Bon appétit and enjoy! 🥰☀️
Hi. I’m sure I’m just missing it, but I just can’t seem to figure out how to print these recipes?
I will try all 4 recipes; all the ingredients are easily attainable. I will comment again when I have tried these.
Thank you
The recipe needs some clarification……. do you roast all the nuts.
Thank you for these.. they look delicious! I surely need some healthier snacks these days.
Sounds yummy
Thanks for these great easy to make recipes!
Hi, thanks that sounds and looks Great, but I haven’t been able to find a decent dark chocolate.
Any suggestions?
Theo organic 85% cacoa bars are excellent. I have not been able to find chocolate chips yet but you can cut the bar with a knife!
Hi Barbra Anne
Thanks for the organic dark chocolate tip.I will definitely look for it!
You did not mention roasting the almonds and cashews. Do we put the same seasonings as on the chickpeas? Cook at the same temp? For how long?
This sounds amazing! Can’t wait to make it.
Yes, need to know the calorie count per serving
Thank you 🙏 I like chickpeas in my salad as well 👍
Like so many others who’ve responded to this recipe, I don’t know what kind of chickpeas to use. I have ones that are dried and I would have to cook them first I would assume but who knows? Also, why can’t you just roast all the nuts together at the same time, or are you saying you have to pre-roast the other nuts before adding them to the chickpeas? Can you clarify?
I use canned organic chick peas/garbanzo for roasting. If you have dried and have an Instant Pot that would be easy to cook them first and then roast some for the recipe…
Thank you Julie, I can’t wait to try this!
I’ve been using your app and it’s great and eye opening! As soon as I start working again I will purchase and unlock the other parts of the app. Thank you for sharing! And btw….your recipes are easy to follow!😘
Love the recipe. Thank you Julie
What are the calories per serving? And what is a serving?
First of all, canned or dried chickpeas? Secondly, I assume that I should purchase **roasted** cashews, almonds and sunflower seeds, since no instructions are provided for roasting them myself? This recipe looks terrific but the recipe certainly requires some clarification.
Are these dry chickpeas in the bag that you rinse and drain and dry — OR — are these canned chickpeas that you rinse drain and dry??????????????????
I love chickpeas and this recipe does not disappoint
A little confused on step 1 do the chickpeas and nuts get baked? Or only the chickpeas??
Yes please clarify the recipe!
Reading both the ingredients and the directions I guess the ingredients should list: smoked paprika, raw cashews, raw almonds, raw sunflower seeds. And that the cashews, almonds, sunflower seeds should be roasted with the chick peas?
I don’t see anything that would indicate using raw nuts, just dry the chickpeas. If there’s a reason for raw let me know.
I regularly make my own roasted nuts so I can say positively that the nuts and seeds need to be roasted separately as they all take different times to roast.
Sounds wonderful. My daughter is always asking if I have Trail Mix. Next time I will surprise her with the good stuff.
I assume these ar canned chickpeas (or cooked) as opposed to dry?
Could you clarify when the nuts get roasted? With the Chickpeas? The directions only mention the chickpeas. Thank you.
Love your app. It’s so helpful shopping !
When I make TRAIL mix besides your ingredients I also add pumpkin seeds and Hemp Protein or Hemp seeds. I have never tried adding the chickpeas. I will think about that next time I make it. Are chickpeas mild or how would you describe their taste ?
Chickpeas definitely have their own unique taste. If you’ve ever had hummus, that’s basically chickpeas with flavors added such as garlic. I would say it’s pretty mild tasting like a peanut.
❤️ I love it and it’s actually really powerful which I was pleasantly surprised💖
